Tony Withers - A1 Award
 

Tony had been unemployed for over six months when a former colleague suggested  he re-train in his field of work.  Tony subsequently identified the funded A1 Award as an opportunity to develop new skills and secure employment. With a background in government funded skills management, combined with a desire to work more closely with learners, the Assessors qualification was ideal for Tony.

Ironically, he had spent the last 12 years developing other people’s skills but neglecting his own, so now Tony not only achieved a relevant and current qualification, but through the support of JHP Training and Astute Minds, has gained full time employment.     

The training experience helped Tony learn a great deal, particularly in that his current skills could be translated, with a little effort, into a formally recognised qualification. He also came to the conclusion that his period of unemployment may have been shorter if he had kept his qualifications up-to-date with the demands of the market – a lesson to be learnt for all!

Tony is determined to ensure this training will change his career to the positive and for good – he is now working again, and without this qualification his employment would not have been assured. Furthermore, he has developed a new career interest and looks forward to becoming an NVQ Verifier in just over a year!
