Eligibility

EligibilityThere are no formal minimal requirements for entry to a JHP Training qualification, but in order to succeed and get the most from the programme, you need to be enthusiastic, committed and hard working.

  • NVQ

    Stand alone NVQs are available for individuals of all ages, but are recommended for those over the age of 25 who are likely to have previous experience in the workplace.

  • Apprenticeships

    Are open to everyone living in England and Wales who are not currently in full-time education. Entry requirements are flexible because Apprenticeships aren't just based on academic achievement, practical skills and a genuine interest in the area of work you have chosen are also taken into account.

Funding

The Government has highlighted the importance of vocational training in developing the nation’s skills base and as a result has allocated money to fund training for eligible candidates.

You will be eligible for Government funded training if you meet the following criteria*:

  • Apprenticeships

    Those aged between 16 and 24.

  • Adult Apprenticeships

    Those aged over 25.

  • NVQ

    Aged over 19 who do not already hold a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).

  • e2e

    Those aged 16 to 19 who are not in full time education, employment or training.

  • * These qualifications are available for individuals outside of the stated age ranges but government funding may not be available.

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

EMAIf you are 16, 17 or 18 and have left, or are about to leave, compulsory education then EMA is cash in your hands to help you to carry on learning (subject to eligibility criteria).  EMA is worth up to £30 a week and could help you with the cost of books, travel or equipment to help you continue learning. Paid straight into your bank account there’s no catch in receiving EMA, as long as you attend regularly and work hard you may even receive bonuses on top of your weekly payment.

Apprenticeships

Earn while you learn; as an employed Apprentice you will be paid at least £95 per week by your employer.

Additional Funding

Depending on the type of qualification you are undertaking, you may also be able to get a small amount of funding to help with travel or childcare costs.
