The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 is the biggest change of Scotland's Licensing Laws in 30 years, and focuses on five licensing objectives
1 preventing crime and disorder
2 Securing public safety
3 Preventing public nuisance
4 Protecting and improving public health
5 Protecting children from harm
All staff who serve alcohol, including part-time or casual staff, must have suitable training, this must cover and agreed syllabus which includes the basics of licensing law, alcohol and the environment in licensed premises.
All staff who serve alcohol must be trained by 1 September 2009
The Personal Licence Holders Certificate can be achieved by attending a one day training course or completing a self-study qualification.
Pricing and Schedule
Full Day Training Course -
£115
per person
A full day of training from a qualified JHP Training Scotland
covering all aspects of the licensing law - the course will be passed on the
successful completion of a multiple choice examination.
The full day course can be completed on your own premises if suitable or at your local JHP Training Centre.
Self-Study Qualification
- £80 per person
A comprehensive set of training materials is despatched to you and this is
worked through in your own time. When you feel confident to sit the multiple
choice examination, a JHP Training Scotland representative will come to your premises
to administer this.
