JHP Training Dundee is one of Tayside and Grampian's chief providers of training and recruitment services. Operating from the heart of the City Centre, at Yeaman Shore, our Centre is open and accessible to all, and within easy reach of bus and train services.
Keeping firmly in step with both modern technology and the needs of local employers, we offer a range of courses and 'short focus private training' programmes designed to increase staff effectiveness. We also deliver vocational qualifications, including Modern Apprenticeships, up to level 4.
JP Dundee's professional and committed staff have built an excellent reputation locally for helping candidates and businesses reach their objectives. We believe that every individual is different and make sure we spend time with each of our customers to ascertain their exact requirements and goals.

Cooking up a stir with the PM!
A learner with JHP Dundee, who last year won a Scottish Modern Apprenticeship Award, has swapped his chef's hat for a shirt and tie to attend a reception at 10 Downing Street attended by Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
Ype van der Schaaf, who achieved an SVQ Level 4 in Management with JHP Dundee is Head Chef at The Famous Grouse Experience. He was invited to the reception in recognition of his outstanding achievement in the Scottish MA Awards where he won in the Continued Personal Development category.
Ype was nominated to attend the reception by the Department for Education and Skills and on receiving his invitation said:
"I cannot believe that I will be visiting what is probably the most famous address in the country!"
Following the visit, Ype reported back to Sylvia at Dundee, saying:
"The visit to 10 Downing Street was brilliant, an experience of a lifetime and so unexpected. I walked through the doors that so many Heads of State have walked through and climbed the stairs lined with portraits of past Prime Ministers. I stood in front of the famous fireplace and attended the Reception in the State Dining Room where I met Mr Blair. I should like to thank JHP Training Dundee for working with me on my Management Modern Apprentice which led me to this opportunity "
Ype has now completed his first year of a Management degree with the Open University having been spurred on by his previous achievements with vocational learning. Keep up the hard work Ype, you never know where you might get invited next!
Getting Ready for Work - how PS2 became BA Hons
At first glance, John did not seem to be the most likely JHP success story. We first saw him, aged 16, when a family member brought him to the Centre, wanting to encourage him to 'Find something useful to do - not just sitting around the house playing computer games and relying on family hand-outs.'
John reluctantly agreed to join the Getting Ready for Work course, but was a 'difficult' teenager to work with at first. However, he began to settle down, and as he did so his timekeeping, attendance and self motivation began to improve. He gained an ECDL Certificate, made new friends of all ages and became a likeable, pleasant, polite and friendly young man.
We lost touch with John after he left JHP, but was recently spotted, by a member of staff, working in a fast food outlet. However, it turned out that this was in fact weekend work to support him through the 'Access to University' course he was attending. John hopes to be offered a University place in 2005 to become a Social Worker, and ultimately wants to work with disadvantaged young people. We wish him well!

In-Centre IT and the European Computer Driving License training is open to all unemployed people in Dundee who qualify under Training for Work, New Deal and Getting Ready for Work and, even though you're 16 or 60 we can give you some new skills, update old ones and help you back to work.
