Emma Lambkin - e2e Progressing to
Management Position
Emma Lambkin came to JHP Employability in Stoke-on-Trent in May 2004
having left school without sitting her exams due to personal issues
at home. Emma then went to Sheppey College where she had a negative
experience in not enjoying the course, resulting in her withdrawing
before she could achieve anything. It was one hurdle after another
for Emma until she was directed to JHP Employability by a friend
when Emma decided that she would like to have a career in the care
sector.
Emma joined the e2e programme and was supported to complete literacy
and numeracy Key Skills qualifications as well as securing a work
placement at a care home. Whilst Emma was on her work placement, she
experienced some initial issues with time-keeping and phoning in
sick, but following discussion with her manager and tutor, Emma
overcome this and was offered a permanent position. Emma went on to
complete her level 2 Apprenticeship in Health and Social care with
sister division JHP Training and continued to blossom, demonstrating
natural ability as a carer.
Emma then changed jobs and was working at Medway Hospital on a
secure Mental Health Ward when she contacted JHP Training to
undertake a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. It was a joy to see the
change in Emma from a girl who lacked confidence to a confident and
determined young lady.
Emma’s determination coupled with the support from JHP Employability
has given her the career that she dreamt of and is now studying to
become a Registered Manager whilst supporting the development of
others.
