Clive Reynolds - ESP Programme Progressing
to Employment
Clive Reynolds visited JHP Employability in Coventry when he decided
he needed help to find a new career direction. Clive had been in the
army for six years where he had forged a successful career defending
his country. During his service, he was caught up in an explosion
but, remarkably, survived with out serious injury. As he rejoined
civilian life, Clive wanted to get a job but was unsure of where to
start and of what resources were available to him.
Through Jobcentre Plus Clive was given information about JHP
Employability and the Response to Redundancy (R2R) programme – he
was impressed by the benefits the programme offered to him and
decided to take upon him this fully funded package of support to
find employment. JHP Employability were excited to work with an
ex-army ‘hero’ who had worked hard all his life and confident they
we would find him his desired job.
After discussion with JHP Employability, Clive decided that he
wanted to move in to security work, and was supported through
applying for his SIA badge. He passed first time and moved on to
completing application forms and sending out CVs, securing an
interview with Mercian Security. Having been in the Army since
leaving school, Clive had no experience of interviews. His tutor at
JHP Employability worked with him to overcome this barrier,
supporting him to build his confidence, adopt positive body language
and giving general tips for performing well at interview. After
this coaching and a successful interview, Clive has been offered a
position as a Security Officer and is now planning to complete an
NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services with the JHP Training division to
further enhance his professional qualifications.
Clive is now working full time for Mercia Security, and happily
admits, "I found JHP Employability a fantastic help, all the staff
were fantastic and got me through my SIA very quickly. I am now back
into work and loving it”.
