Welcome to JHP London

Reception at JHP Wood Green JHP Training has been a key player in the training arena in London for over 10 Years, and sustained success has enabled us to continue to grow, as we attract new customers and further develop relationships with existing clients. Keeping firmly ahead of the game, we recently identified a gap in local provision - the result...Wimbledon Business Centre was opened in a blaze of glory in October 2006!

JHP’s relationship and reputation with the local Learning and Skills Council has earned us the opportunity to work first-hand on the many leads generated by the National Campaign. As a result, we are proud to count a diverse range of some of the capital’s top companies as our clients, for example Tottenham Hotspur, The Football Association and Keegans Regeneration.

What's New In JHP London

New Opportunities for Women and Their Employers in London

The introduction of a new government initiative, Train to Gain, is a major advance in enabling employers to develop the skills of their employees.

JHP Training has recently celebrated another successful contract win under the umbrella of Train to Gain with our latest success being a pilot that focuses on under represented individuals in the workplace – in this case, women.

The acquisition of Train to Gain funding means women from the areas of London, Kent and Medway and Hertfordshire, who are working in the areas of Management, Customer Service, Administration, Adult Care, Children’s Care, Retail, Storage & Distribution, and IT will be eligible to take up work-based qualifications at Level 3.

This significant contract, which runs to 2008, will encourage employers to invest in developing their female staff, alongside the existing mainstream Train to Gain contract which targets all employees.

If you are an employer or employee and think you could benefit from Train to Gain, please contact your nearest JHP branch and quote reference: Train to Gain.

Past and present Young Mums To Be reunite at an event held at JHP Training Wood Green and Finchley.

Young Mums Unite!

The YMTB course at JHP London goes from strength to strength and learners old and new have recently reunited to share stories, catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

The reunion was an opportunity for ex-learners from YMTB to get together and share their stories with each other. Many of them had lost touch since finishing the programme, so the event was a great way for them to rebuild old friendships.

On the day a midwife and the nursery manager from ‘Families Matter Nursery’ were on hand for advice, whilst YMTB tutors offered reassurance and a listening ear to some of the more nervous new parents. The event was a great opportunity to reiterate to young mothers that JHP Training’s support continues long after the programme ends and baby is born.

During the reunion young mums were presented with certificates for their achievements all under the eye of Mike Dick Productions Limited who are filming a programme on teenage pregnancy on behalf of Teachers TV. Their goal is to destroy the myths about teenage mums, something that JHP Training also feels very strongly about.

Despite the chaos of the event which involved babies, prams, film crews, tutors and young mums, all those that attended were in good spirits making the event a real success.

Young Mums To Be at International Women’s Week

Thanks to the success of Young Mums To Be (YMTB), run by JHP Training in London, the tutor team were invited to Government Office at Milbank to do a presentation for International Women’s Week.

Young Mums To Be is a modular course that gives pregnant young women the opportunity to prepare for parenthood as well as develop skills and a qualification useful for their future careers.

The YMTB programme at London has been praised for its innovation, as well as the positive impact it has on young mums. The International Women’s Week presentation helped to promote the course to a wider audience and gave JHP Training a great chance to show-off two of its successful learners, Alisha Ameyaw and Ashleigh Pridmore. Both young mums brought their baby girls to the presentation and demonstrated their desire to get back to college and maintain a purpose to their lives and the lives of their babies. Feedback on the programme and presentation was excellent.

There was a definite ‘buzz’ in the room from many of the guests who were clearly impressed by the work of the YMTB team.

And so the day ended and we made our way home and even the babies appeared to enjoy the day, judging by how soundly they slept on the tube!

360 Degree Support - Open day builds bridges to parents of e2e learners

“The social climate today is one that can be uncertain, unpredictable, unstable and quite frightening for youngsters and for their parents/guardians.”

That’s why 31st May saw the launch of ‘I want to be involved 360 Degrees’ at JHP London. Parents for e2e learners from both Centres were invited to the open day as part of JHP’s drive towards delivering successful, enriching programmes for our learners. They were invited to find out more about JHP Training, the e2e programme and the aims and objectives we have for young people who train with us.

360 Support from JHPAs well as telling people about JHP, ‘360 degrees’ also aims to provide parents with information about other organisations located in Barnet and Haringey which are able to offer them support guidance and advice. On the day we had presentations from Connexions, Home Start Haringey and Open Door, presenting information about themselves and the level and range of support they offer.

After the presentations parents had the opportunity to interact with one another and the speakers, and the number of positive comments reflected the view that the event was a real success. One parent was especially touched by the day, leaving the event in tears with the following words:

“This has made me realise that I need to apologise to my son- when I get home, I now know what I must do.”

The plan now is to hold 360 Degrees once every three months. It is hoped that through this, parents of all new starters will have the opportunity to become aware of JHP Training and the external organisations involved in their daughter or son’s journey through e2e.
